So it’s pretty apparent that I’ve not been keeping up with this month’s blog posts. I could use the excuse that I’ve been busy – which, truthfully, isn’t a lie – or that I’ve been so involved with other projects that I let this one slip.
But the truth is? I feel sick.
It’s this election. I’ve never been so emotionally involved in an election before, and god, I’m just so sick of it.
I’m sick of the disgusting temperament and behavior of my fellow US citizens. I’m sick of the racism, the sexism, the classism, and the outright bullshit that common people have to deal with – or dole out – over these candidates. I’m sick of the mudslinging. I’m sick of the pundits.I’m sick of wondering if my reproductive rights will be taken away. I’m sick of wondering if I’ll still have the ability to have a voice. I’m sick of it all.
As I’ve mentioned a few times on Facebook, I normally use this time of year to get SUPER HYPED over Thanksgiving and the coming holidays. I love the holidays. This is the time of year where I should be planning my meal for Thanksgiving, putting together gift ideas for my fiance and roommates, and thinking of cool decorations.
Instead, I’m getting physically ill at the prospect of America completely falling apart.
I don’t have much else to say except for a small plea:
*dusts off the blog* Woah! There’s a lot of spiders and such in here.
So, hey there. It’s been… well, a very long time since my last post. This last year has been absolutely crazy, and I can tell you that there’s still more to come before the year is out. That said, let’s get caught up, together!
I decided to participate in this year’s NaBloPoMo, the blog equivalent for NaMoWriMo. Essentially, instead of writing a novel this month, you write one post a day in your blog to get back into the habit. It seems like a great opportunity to pick this back up, right?
I must admit: I am one of those goths who very desperately wants to decorate my house with Halloween related stuff all year ’round. I’m not saying that I’d like super cheesy decorations (I’m saving those for the actual holiday), but little touches of spoopy spooky, creepy, and plain old weird would make my home feel more like a home. Bf and I are getting our own place soon, and we (along with our future roommate) are all rather excited to begin the decorating process – and, luckily, we all share similar tastes in decor!
So I planned on making today’s post a book review, but it looks like I’ll have to get to that next time – today was the announcement for the next WoW expansion, Legion. And while I’m going to admit that I’m cautiously optimistic about it – the class halls look interesting, and I’m very interested in the new Hero Class, Demon Hunter – it’s not what I want to talk about today.
I’m not saying that I’m a huge, nitpicky Star Trek fan (at least not anymore). I haven’t regularly watched Trek since the end of the first season of Voyager (it got weird to me), and I’ve been pretty disappointed with all of the TNG movies.
Hi, I’m Amethyst. I wanted to set up this blog as a way of communication: I want to talk about my personal experiences of being, well, a geeky goth; I want to use this blog as a means of reaching out to people who share similar interests; and I hope to be an eventual resource, however small, to others about these (and related) topics.
Currently, however, it’s the beginning of August – and I’m probably slowly dying of heatstroke – so I’m going to wrap this up for now.
Actually, here’s a cooler manifesto. Let’s just use this one:
